Curious--anyone know what the pilot that ol' Pat hosted in 1981 was that Jim Lange mentioned on tonight's Bullseye?

Dunno.  But I was reaching for a barf bag when Jim told Patrick he'd make a great game show host.

But seriously, I really hate to think that conversation in part led Patrick to the TTD90 hosting gig.

ObGameShow: Bailey was a panelist on Ed McMahon's "Whodunnit?" [who owns that one now?]

Am I the only one who thinks they chose this ep for that reason?  If I knew about it, I'd be sure to air it, just as a sort-of-inside joke for those who would recognize it.

Which would be amusing - here's some well-meaning person at GSN going "Yeah, we'll air the episode where Patrick Wayne is on as a nod and a wink to the Internet guys who hate him so much! I bet they will think it's a nice acknowledgement!" And of course everyone starts screaming "But it's a CELEBRITY show, you bastards!"

GSN can't win.

It would not surprise me at all to find that the choice of Patrick Wayne was a deliberate one.  You have to ask WHY run that particular episode?  It's not as though the selection is random, and even if they put the tiniest thought into choosing a show, surely they could have grabbed something with more recognizable celebrities.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.

At least we didn't get the Celebrity Bullseye shows where Jimmie Walker or Joey Bishop or Shecky Greene guested. Those were absolutely putrid.
I was grateful Bullseye was shown--even with the celebs. I'd forgotten how rockin' that show's contestant intro music was.

And on that note, at least the Patrick Wayne ep had a full credit roll, giving us a chance to hear a good chunk of that great theme song...pity we didn't get to hear much of the section used for the mid-show fee plugs, though.

Also, the fact that we hate him would mean that we're happy that he ultimately loses.

Now I know 99.9% of all game show fans hate him and TTD90 .  But he was only doing his job hosting the show.  I, for one, am a big fan of TTD 90.  So theres no need for all the negative comments about Patrick Wayne.

I'm just throwing in my two cents because I am sure there are other people around here who like TTD 90 and the host.

[Frank Gallup] Reeeealllllyyy. [FG]

Mr. Wayne is probably a fine gentleman who couldn't cut it as a game show host (and probably followed every suggestion Enright and the other producers made to him).  The show bombed in 13 weeks and he hasn't repeated his mistake.  Hopefully, he is a happy man now.  As long as no one ever hires him as a game show host again (and that's almost a lead pipe cinch), we have nothing more to complain about.

Besides, it was sort of funny in a strange way - back in '90, you had Pat Sajak on the top of the roost - so I wonder if producers thought it was a good luck charm, seeing how we got Pat Finn for Joker and Pat Wayne for TTD. I think I asked a producer if changing my first name to Pat would get me a chance as a host.....

(besides, even with Wayne's hosting - skills - the whole TTD 90 package was just TOO DRY.....)

The show and the host was terrible.  There was very little good about it.  To me it is the second worst game show ever made (Camoflauge coming in first).
